Celina

Celina Adrian (née, Denkins) is an American Author, Poet, Songwriter, Music Booking Agent Executive, Investor and Entrepreneur.

 

Celina was born in North Carolina and grew up in Atlanta, GA. She spent the earlier years of her adult life briefly living in Vermont and San Francisco before moving to New York City, where she attended NYU, interviewed celebrities for major magazines and performed spoken word poetry throughout the city - from Nuyorican's Poet Cafe to Caroline's on Broadway (featuring poet, comedian Shang), CBGB's (CB'S 313 Gallery), The Bowery Poetry Club, Joe's Pub, A.I.R. Gallery as well as many off the beaten path yet popular underground spots for poets. She would move from New York to Los Angeles, CA and currently divides her time between her alma mater Georgia and Hollywood. Since living in Los Angeles, Celina has booked celebrity, local and unsigned talent throughout well known historical Hollywood venues for well over a decade. In 2007, booking primarily rock music, Celina would make history as the first African American woman in Los Angeles history to hold the title as an In-house Celebrity Booking Agent/Executive Talent Buyer.

WORK HISTORY. 

Mentored by legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill and the world famous Whisky a Go-Go owner Mario Maglieri, Celina got her start as the Executive Music Agent for the famous rock venue Whisky a Go-Go. She specialized in large scale production and performances, booking corporate events, private events, product launches, artist launches, tour announcements, international performances and a diverse range of shows such as Alice Cooper's Ol' Black Eyes Returns, The Doors 40 Anniversary, The Police Reunification, Black Sabbath, Buddy Miles, Vicente Fernandez, Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland, Slash, Perry Farrell, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Reba McEntire, Leon Geico, First to Last, Beth Hart, Glenn Hughes, Sugarhill Gang, Cypress Hill, Pete Yorn, Avril LaVigne, Motley Crue, Miley Cyrus, Warren G and many more. She has worked with an extensive corporate clientele list including, CNN, Showtime, HBO, MTV, VH-1, Jack Daniels, Fender, iheart Radio, Live Nation, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and more. Known for booking emerging talent, she also booked the earlier shows of Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. During her Whisky a Go-Go career, Celina, working with marketing and branding companies, helped to further cement the legacy and merchandising of the iconic Whisky venue locally and internationally. She successfully negotiated a multimillion dollar branding deal in Japan. During her career as an In-house Booking Agent, Celina resurrected the infamy of Whisky’s Go-Go dancers with a more modernized Burlesque style performance. Coined "The Creative of the Sunset Strip," she is known for her imaginative and artistic narrative approach to conceptualizing intimate and memorable performances for both the artist/band and their fans. ​Additionally, Celina also played a key formative role in booking talent and helping to brand and market the early years of the Sunset Strip Music Festival. She worked closely with neighboring venues such as Viper Room, Rainbow and the Roxy, She also worked with former venues known as the The Cat Club, House of Blues and Key Club (now, 1OAK). A strong supporter of Children’s music programs, Celina has donated many rare celebrity autographed items in auctions to benefit children’s music programs throughout the U.S. She has sponsored live music performances that raised money and awareness of non-profits, such as Susan G. Komen and The School of Rock's, Rock School Scholarship Fund. For 3 consecutive years, she was a beloved Independent Music Awards Judge. She is the co-owner of Mantra Entertainment and co-owner of the former legendary Hollywood Sound Studios. Unrelated, Celina also portrayed a small character role of the awkward British Darts game announcer, Iqbala Purist in the feature film, London Fields which was in part produced by her company MindSky Entertainment.

During 8 years of being the Executive Booking Agent for Whisky a Go-Go, she conceptualized what became to be known as “Women Rock Shows,” on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA. She has presently created Girl Stages and is also the Founder of OMG Event Space. 

Celina is the Co-Founder of MindSky Entertainment now The MindSky Entertainment Company, a Television and Film development company she formed with her beloved partner, Teresa Holzbach, who passed away from Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2016. After Holzbach's passing, MindSky would go on hiatus. In 2019, Celina sold The MindSky Entertainment Company to a UK firm specializing in projects that are inclusive of diverse perspectives, worldwide. Celina maintains as a small percentage holder in MindSky but is no longer directly involved with the company's day to day affairs.  

Currently Celina owns and is invested in 12 businesses - from real estate to a stock education company to family owned and operated businesses, including being the owner of a line of cbd products - edibles, skincare and tinctures. Celina is also currently invested in a brand of cbd chocolates (Therapeutic aka, theratreats), that she helped to create and has successfully grown in the United States since 2015. The brand is currently online and in over 300 stores throughout the US. In addition, Celina currently invests in several other CBD & THC companies throughout the US and Canada.

Celina spent her early years as a ghostwriter for celebrity and aspiring artists. She is now an accredited songwriter with R&C Music. Known as an advocate of diversity, that transcends musically as she writes and composes in every genre, including country, pop, r&b, rock and hip hop/rap.

Celina's gospel singing Grandmother was a Southern based storyteller and poet. Celina developed a passion for both.
